A native of Texas, Dr. John A. Thomas graduated from Rice University with honors (cum laude). He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
Dr. Thomas completed his orthopaedic training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where he was awarded the Golden Bone Resident Teaching Award and the Hutchins Award for Excellence in Orthopaedics.
Following his residency, Dr. Thomas completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the Methodist Sports Medicine Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. While in Indianapolis, Dr. Thomas learned advanced techniques in the treatment of knee, shoulder, and elbow injuries. He also assisted in the care of local high school and college athletes, as well as the Indianapolis Colts.
From 2004 to 2006, Dr. Thomas was in private practice in Houston, Texas, where he was a team physician for the Alief Independent School District. In early 2007, he began his practice in the Fort Worth area, subsequently becoming a partner in Lone Star Orthopaedic and Spine Specialists, PLLC.
Dr. Thomas is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and orthopaedic surgery, specializing in knee and hip replacement.
