Meet Dr. Jarren Section, M.D.

Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon

Dr. Jarren Section, M.D., is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon with expertise in treating various cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spinal conditions. He specializes in procedures ranging from minimally invasive to complex reconstructive spinal surgeries. Before joining Lone Star Orthopaedic & Spine Specialists, he served as faculty for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Baylor University Medical Center and the Texas A&M School of Medicine.

Dr. Section completed his spine surgery training at the University of Rochester “Louis A. Goldstein Fellowship” in Rochester, NY. This highly prestigious and rigorous training opportunity is awarded to only one fellow annually. Taught by several of the most prominent and well-respected leaders in the field, he mastered numerous minimally invasive, microscope-assisted, navigation-assisted, and motion-preservation spine surgical procedures and techniques.

Dr. Section has published manuscripts in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals, including a lead article in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. As a guest lecturer, he has taught fellow spine surgeons in AO Spine North America. He is an active North American Spine Society member and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery. Before becoming a surgeon, Dr. Section attended Texas Southern University for his undergraduate education, the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center for his master’s degree, which was earned with honors, and the University of Texas Southwestern School of Medicine for his medical degree. He completed orthopaedic surgery residency training at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, TX.

Dr. Section is dedicated to providing individualized, multidisciplinary care to his patients. He advocates for conservative, nonoperative treatment options as the initial approach for most spinal conditions with the understanding that surgery should only be considered if nonoperative treatments do not provide adequate symptom relief.

When he is not working hard in the hospital, Dr. Section enjoys reading, performing genealogical research, fitness training, and spending time with his beautiful wife and children.
